Voting out Incumbents - Why? Haven't they had an opportunity to do something already? Are you happy with what they've done? Please don't tell me they need at least two terms to just get the hang of "how things are done in Washington". After all, isn't that THE problem? Why worry about throwing all the babies out with the bath water if they've all drowned anyway?
Why Independents? -What's wrong with Republicans and Democrates? It's really all about inertia. Bodies at rest tend to stay at rest... and boy, have these two parties been at rest! Are you aware that if you added up all the registered members of both parties you would only total 50% of the registered voters in the country? That means that the rest of us aren't particularly fond of either one of them. Why do we let them pretend they speak for us? Isn't "bi-partisian" a particularly offensive term? Doesn't it imply that there are only two opinions that matter; Republican and Democrat? Why do we let them get away with that? We can do something about it. From Dog Catcher to President we can start electing Independents. We can put real debate back into government. We can elect people who are not beholden to the status quo. Remember the other rule of inertia; bodies in motion tend to stay in motion...
Here is a quote that addresses the truth about the "Big Two" political parties: "The only difference between the Republican and Democratic parties is the velocities with which their knees hit the floor when corporations knock on their door. That's the only difference." -Ralph Nader
