| Calling All Freaks! |
| Once upon a time, people grew up in America with a desire to be different. Not different in a bad way. Different in a "You're OK but I don't want to be exactly like you 'cause I'm OK too." sort of way. Some of us stopped wearing business clothes like shirts with ties and long skirts and such. Some even stopped getting haircuts altogether. We stopped listening to "Pat Boone" versions of music and discovered the real stuff. Some even invented new types! "The Establishment" as we called them, became scared and started calling us names. The one that stuck was "hippies". We never used that one. We rejected everything the establishment stood for. We called ourselves "Freaks". We were different all right.; different from them and each one of us is different from each other. Once upon a time we had a purpose. Once again lots of people are calling each other lots of nasty names. Once again our purpose is calling us to action . . . |
